Deliver Us From Professionalization
In Reforming Pastoral Ministry : Challenges for Ministry in Postmodern Times
When I was pastor of Evanston Baptist Church on the North Shore of Chicago, I served on the board of Reformation & Revival Ministries, led by John Armstrong. It turns out, John and I were born in the same hospital (Martha Gaston in Lebanon, Tennessee) about the same time. His dad was a dentist; mine was a prof at Cumberland University and a local pastor. I had the privilege of contributing a piece to John’s journal and also one to this book, an essay entitled “Deliver Us From Professionalization.”
