The Everlasting God
September 4, 2017
A number of years ago, Boyce College’s Jonathan Arnold invited my SBTS colleague Doug Blount and me to lead a seminar in metaphysics for their new Augustine Honors Collegium. One substantial topic was the nature of time and timelessness, including the question of whether God was atemporal (outside of time) or temporal-but-everlasting (with things going on, sequentially, within the Trinity before Creation). That school year, a number of our students submitted articles for the inaugural issue of the Augustine Collegiate Review, which came out in June 2017. Doug and I were invited to submit one too, so here’s mine. (And, as I recall, I got it in right on time.)
