The Asinine Six
December 6, 2025
In writing this piece, I thought back to my ROTC days when our drill sergeant pulled this cadence call on us.
Your mama was home when you left. (You’re right.)
Your daddy was home when you left. (You’re right.)
Your brother was home when you left. (You’re right.)
Your sister was home when you left. (You’re right.)
Your aunt was home when you left. (You’re right.)
Your uncle was home when you left. (You’re right.)
Your mama, your daddy, your brother, your sister,
your aunt your uncle,
they all were there when you left. (You’re right.)
And that’s the reason you left. (You’re right.)
Now, with this template in mind, I picture Senator Kelley of the "Seditious Six" marching alongside a unit—whether fresh inductees, trainees, or seasoned troops—calling out
Illegal orders are bad. (You’re right.)
The Commander in Chief is a cad. (You’re right.)
Be careful or you will be had. (You’re right.)
It’s clear this ruler is mad. (You’re right.)
Stand up to this jerk on the spot. (You’re right.)
Don’t be a part of his plot. (You’re right)
Tyrants have got to be stopped. (You’re right)
His power just has to be cropped. (You’re right) . . .
Wow! Heavy stuff. So, what particulars show up in “stanza” two? Well, none. It’s just a cheap smear, and a dangerous one at that.
