Islam Needs Reform — But Is That Possible?

The Gaza terrorist attack and Israeli response prompted me to recollect my experiences in the Jewish and Muslim lands and my studies on the contrast. I draw on these, as well as the Bible, to argue that Islam generates a "Club of Doom"—nations stuck in backwardness and misery. That expression was coined by a Muslim writer dismayed at his people's shortfalls on the international stage. He believed the problem was they'd fallen short in devotion to Islamic teachings. I disagree here.
